Chic Paris Christmas

A Chic Paris Holiday Season – Day 15 – Savor Your Treats of the Season

Fiona Ferris encourages us to maximize those activities of the holiday season that bring us fun and joy in her book, A Chic and Simple Christmas. Today, I embraced Fiona’s idea to the hilt! I had  a day of what I would call “luxe-enjoyment.” (A day filled with laid back holiday fun – no rushing about and no expensive purchases required.) All of the activities were not necessarily on “The Master Schedule” but were serendipitous additions that could jump onto a block of open time that I had kept just for such a reason.

This morning, I had a laugh-out-loud 45-minute walk with a new Canadian acquaintance who moved with her family to Paris the same day my family and I did. What a fun walk swapping stories of our experiences this past crazy year!

Right after lunch, we made Christmas cookies at my apartment. Instead of giving physical gifts, several of my daughters friend’s are doing cookie exchanges. It was fun to help them translate certain recipes to make them dairy-free and/or gluten-free. One very nice treat: the girls cleaned up the kitchen after themselves!

In just a few minutes, I will go make some Keto Cinnamon-Spice Christmas Cookies for myself. (I use a slightly altered ruled.me recipe called Cinnamon Sugar Donuts. I wrote about them here.)

Last night, before dinner, my husband and I detached the children from their electronic gadgets and took them for a late afternoon stroll around Parc du Ranelagh. It was a wonderful way to enjoy the holiday decorations and catch a few unexpectedly nice photographs.

Some time outside, good company and the smells of home-made apple cider and Christmas cookies – what a treat. I’m so glad I followed Fiona’s advice to make my “what I enjoy about the holiday season” list – it helped me recognize and savor these activities as I was actually experiencing them.

The door was propped open for just long enough for a photo.
