A Chic Paris Holiday Season – Day 25 – More Treats
December 27, 2020
Today dawned cold, rainy and windy here in the City of Light. I did spend a few moments thinking wistfully of warm ocean breezes and beautiful beaches. Then I got dressed (in wool – cotton is not my friend when the outside temperature drops below 45 F (8 C)) and wandered outside with my coffee.
It was a sleepy Sunday morning after Christmas weekend. Even the market street was almost deserted. The Marks & Spencer store was full of empty racks – not a block of cheddar or a little mince pie to be found.
I decided that my treats today would a gorgeous mango from the South Seas (to continue the warm ocean breeze motif) and – in a nod to my weather reality – making a big pot of chicken stock from the Christmas feast roast chicken bones.
In just a little while the apartment smelled delicious. I also used the cold rainy day to inspire me to make a big parmessan chicken dish for dinner. I will use the leftovers for another big batch of parmessan chicken stew. (The last batch was so tasty that we ate it much faster than I anticipated.)
Tomorrow and the rest of the week is supposed to get progressively colder and rainier. Yay! It will be perfect for all types of “hyggie” (cozy-home) activities like cooking and reading with a soft warm lap blanket. (It’s going to be colder and rainier no matter what my personal perspective is so I might as well look for the upside!)
I wish you a lovely upcoming week full of delightful “treats” (activities and delicious left-overs) to enjoy.
